THE FE METHOD™ · CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL METHODOLOGY

Assess Function. Treat With Purpose.

A systematic chiropractic approach that connects functional assessment, targeted intervention, immediate reassessment and clinical reasoning across the extremities and spine.

FEC established the foundation. The FE Method refines the process.

START WITH FUNCTION

Assessment Comes First.

Pain, restricted motion and joint tenderness all provide valuable clinical information. They don’t always identify the most relevant functional finding.

The FE Method adds another layer to the examination by evaluating neuromusculoskeletal function. Using the FEA, the clinician tests for a reproducible functional finding with patient-appropriate resistance, muscular activation and the ability to sustain contraction.

A reproducible finding gives the chiropractor a clear clinical reference point: something to document, address when indicated, and reassess.

FROM FINDING TO INTERVENTION

The Adjustment Has a Job.

Once a reproducible finding is documented, the chiropractor has a specific clinical reference point.

Within the FE Method, the adjustment is selected for the joint complex the findings point to and applied when indicated. It’s a targeted intervention, not the endpoint.

The next step is always the same: reassess immediately and let the response guide the next decision.

ASSESS → INTERVENE WHEN INDICATED → REASSESS → REASON FORWARD

Follow the Findings™

When a finding persists after the primary intervention, that’s information, not a reason to repeat the same adjustment. Reassessment directs the next step: associated soft tissue, adjacent spinal regions, related joints and the kinetic chain, and, when needed, further examination, imaging or referral.

BEYOND THE SITE OF PAIN

The Body Doesn't Function as Isolated Joints.

A knee doesn't function independently of the hip, ankle and foot.

A shoulder doesn't function independently of the SC joint, AC joint, elbow and wrist.

And the extremities don't function independently of the spine.

The FE Method teaches chiropractors to reason across these relationships, so clinical decisions aren’t limited to the symptomatic region.
